Ofsted and SIAMs Inspections
Along with other maintained and academy schools, Georgeham is subject to regular inspection by Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills). As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school we are also subject to inspection by the Diocese of Devon who undertake a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools which focuses on the effect that the Christian ethos of the school has on the children and young people who attend it.
At our most recent Ofsted Inspection (full inspection in November 2019) we were graded as a GOOD school.
Inspectors noted that…
“Pupils arrive at school with a cheerful smile. They are excited to see their friends and eager for lessons to begin. A warm and caring atmosphere permeates the school.”
“The values of being kind, confident, curious, adventurous, ambitious and one community thread through the curriculum plan. Pupils live and breathe the school’s values.”
“Children get off to a flying start in Nursery. High expectations of behaviour, reading and number are a high priority. This prepares children well for their Reception Year. The Nursery and Reception classes are places of ‘awe and wonder’.”
Our most recent SIAMS Inspection Report (2017), rated the school’s provision as Good. Inspectors commented that “the behaviour and the quality of relationships across all members of the school are strengths and children have a sense that they are part of a caring Christian community. “
