So…which plant is it?

2016-06-26T19:22:25+01:00

On Friday we started to think about how we could use classification systems to identify plants that are actually very similar-this means we couldn’t just identify them by colour or size. To help us do this we created our own botanical drawings to let us think about the features of each plant such as the shape of the petals and the [...]

2016-06-17T20:51:33+01:00

Class 4 had an amazing day at Oceanfest today. We had a go at the Code Breaker team challenges, competed in the beach flags competition and then spent time looking around the event arena trying out things like Street Art and browsing the stalls. At the end of the afternoon we were able to see Beau and Jess compete in beach [...]

Class 4's new library make-over is finished! FROGS give each class £50 per term to spend on books, so in class 4 we've been building up a good selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, and thanks to FROGS providing us with some new shelving we now have a great library to display and enjoy our books!

Results of the Boat Race….

2016-05-18T21:10:10+01:00

The deadline for completion was 2.30pm on Monday, and each boat was given 2 attempts to race down the 3 metre trough - it was a very demanding task as although most of the boats were fine in the paddling pool, getting them to go straight for 3m was way harder! The results for the fastest boats were [...]

In class 4 we have been choosing words for effect in our poetry. The children were given the challenge of changing the names of paint from appealing and tasteful names such as; Blue Saturn, Oyster Pearl and Lilac Grey to some much more disgusting (and funny) names. Some of our favourites were; Stinky Elephant Breath Grey, Sweaty Socks Grey, Fungus [...]

2016-05-06T19:58:36+01:00

In class 4, we have been finding out about the characteristics a creature needs to survive in their habitat. We found out that koalas have developed a fantastic sense of smell as they only eat two of the 600 different types of eucalyptus leaves and that giraffes have adapted to have an extra-large heart so that it can pump blood [...]

Dune Ecology and recycling food blenders…

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Class 4 had an excellent afternoon today, looking at Braunton Burrows in great detail! You normally talk about the burrows from the sea back towards the land but we approached from the car park, so we ended up doing the whole thing backwards... never mind, it all still made sense as we walked through. Wonder if you can work out [...]

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Last week some of Class 4 went to Braunton library to talk about what we like about libraries and how we can make them better. We split into five groups to answer different questions. Here are some of our answers on how we thought Braunton library could be better: - Introduce a Recommended Book of the Week, or a Top [...]
