Hello everyone! We hope you are all keeping safe and well. Here's what our wonderful children got up to last week... bird feeders, towers, dream houses, home-made slime, phonics, lava lamps, obstacle courses, enough baking to feed the 5000, egg incubating, origami, kid sitting (the baby goat kind), story writing, beautiful artwork... the list is endless! Thank you for all [...]

19th April update…

2022-08-18T13:27:04+01:00

Here's a video - please click to watch and listen. We're listening to everyone and we're adapting our offer to suit as many of our families and children as we can. It’s been lovely to see what children and families have been doing, and so we're fully embracing the Google Classroom environment and making use of it as fully [...]

Happy Easter – new start…

2022-08-18T13:27:04+01:00

Happy Easter everyone! I've shared another video for you, explaining our new term and the new way we're going to be working for the foreseeable future.  You can access it by clicking this link.  There are two videos there actually, with the other being of the children singing the Spring Chicken song - that's a fun one!  I wonder if [...]

Prepping for Week 2…

2022-08-18T13:27:04+01:00

Dear parents, Well done for managing a week's worth of learning at home. I bet it's had its challenges, but also some fun bits too - I have four boys of my own at home, so I know only too well how hard it can be! We're about to head into the school's 'Easter Break,' but it's not going to [...]

Worrying times create a need for Viking battles, shelter-building and general kid hilarity!

2022-08-18T13:27:05+01:00

While our Year 6s (and I quote) treat their final practise paper like "the real SATs and we're gonna SMASH it!!!" it has been possible to take a moment to reflect on what lovely children we have and what really matters. Here is a tiny snapshot of our last few days... P.S. That last picture is mud, promise!! [...]

Home learning ideas…

2020-03-19T10:27:17+00:00

AKA, musing of a headteacher. We’re sending out ideas and packs today… And we’ll be populating web pages… But we thought we could host a place where people could post ideas? I'm sure Pinterest and Facebook will help here too, but it's a thought; a possible helpful page? It's also un-moderated.  Please be thoughtful of the audience! Link here, for [...]

Year 5&6 Coordinates…

2022-08-18T13:27:07+01:00

We reminded ourselves what coordinates were in our Booster Session this morning, but also how they develop through the years at school so that, by the time that children get to year 6, we're working out complex 4-figure coordinates in all four quadrants! Our whiteboard scribbles and worksheets mean almost nothing unless you were part of the session itself or [...]

Gliddon and Squire Cross Country League… Blows Out in Style….

2020-02-10T21:53:18+00:00

The last event in the 2019/20 league saw a reduced team of Kitty, Elfini and Presley battle windy and very muddy conditions at West Buckland School to complete their final cross country run of the league.  They all battled well despite some injuries (Kitty) and a lot of mud.  At the end of the run the annual prize giving saw [...]
