Our last Science Club for this year- a bit of a mixture!

2014-03-28T21:38:24+00:00

We knew that coca cola could clean a dirty 2p coin but we wanted to investigate why this happened and to find out which other liquids could be used to clean things. We used some universal indicator paper and found that coke was high in acid which meant it could clear off the grime. We also tested milk, toothpaste, water, [...]

Class 3’s science experiment…

2014-03-24T14:59:24+00:00

Hope you can help… Class 3 liked testing different materials wrapped around Blue Groove’s take-away cups last week.  We measured the temperature of the water at different times and found that the cup with fur round it was better than felt, foam or tin foil. We’ve planned an experiment to see if Mr Thomas’ drinking flask was any good. Have [...]

A Journey into Space!

2014-03-20T15:49:54+00:00

Today was a very exciting day at school. Simon set up his fantastic Space Odyssey Dome in Georgeham Chapel and the whole school went on their very own Space mission during the day. We found out what it would like to be an astronaut and we decided that eating, drinking and even going to the toilet would be very tricky [...]

Balloon hovercrafts….new and improved!

2022-08-18T13:27:29+01:00

Today in science club we made balloon hovercrafts. Kieron and Luke saw on the blog that we had made these in the class 1/2 science club and asked if we could do it too, but they wanted to find ways to make them go even faster! We talked about what we could try to do to make them go faster. We [...]

Science club hit the target!

2022-08-18T13:27:29+01:00

In science club we made catapults. We tried to see how we could adapt the catapult to make our missiles travel further. With a bit of practice, the missiles could also be made to land quite accurately on targets around the room. When we were exploring the catapults we found that the missile travels further with a longer [...]

It’s ‘Flipping’ Shrove Tuesday!!

2022-08-18T13:27:29+01:00

Great fun was had by all at what has now become the annual Shrove Tuesday tradition at Georgeham School, our Pancake Race! We took turns, in our Family Groups, to run against each other with what should have been a minimum of 4 'flips' of the pancake before reaching the finishing line. We had some sprints that Usain Bolt would have been proud [...]

Science Club play the apples…..a banana, a lime, an orange and a lemon!

2014-03-01T10:18:56+00:00

Today was the first Science Club for classes 3 and 4. We played the piano, but as it was science we decided to challenge ourselves to see if we could create an electrical circuit so that we could use different pieces of fruit as the piano keys! We played Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star....we managed to get the first part worked [...]

Class 3 is Opaque!

2014-02-03T15:10:17+00:00

That, um, if you had a little bit of paper it would be translucent and if you folded it so it had 16 things, it would be opaque. Daisy said this (above) but she also did a FotoBabble for us! (below)

Class 3 Heads To Space!

2022-08-18T13:27:31+01:00

Clive didn't come to us from space, but the drive from Cornwall was a bad journey enough.  Clive is from Callington Space Centre and he gave Class 3 an amazing journey into his world - we found out lots! We made rockets... 'Pop rockets' VIDEO Clive inserted the rocket fuel - we didn't catch a photo of this one [...]

Swimming Gala

2014-01-22T07:28:51+00:00

Well done to everyone who took part in the gala yesterday.  It was a great morning - you all swum well and supported each other brilliantly! Did you enjoy it and do you think we should try to do it again next year?
