Train no.1: Chess, trumps, battleships, the Shout Magazine, and a multitude of photos of fields, trees, the river, the train carriage and each other pulling funny faces. Excitedness level 8/10 (average, with a range between 6 and 45 billion) so far, but they think it’s going to be 65 when they arrive in London.
Train no.2: My goodness me, a busy train and the obligatory, “Can we have our seat please?” Lunch, sweets, games, sweets, photos (of cows this time, and the inside of the carriage yet again) and sweets. All quite excited still – no let up there!
Train / underground no.3: Map explained and obligatory photos of rails and the odd machinery in the Tube. “Wow, look how they bend! You can see all the way down the train!!!” For our first day, we have a strict Sitting Down policy – certainly can’t have anyone attempting to stand in the Tubes just yet. Almost lost a jumper, but everything’s good so far. Excitedness level is apparently 10/10 at the moment.
Train no.4: Just got on. No one’s tired just yet and the excitedness level seems to have increased; yes, beyond 10. Why… possibly to do with working out which train we need, or Italian photographers, or pigeons, or seats with tables that fold down?
Fortunately, they’ll get tired kayaking later?
And more excited.
Update later!
