Class 1 and 2 Materials Workshop

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

Class 1 and 2 had an exciting morning learning about the properties of materials and how they can be recycled. Hopefully they have brought home a useful fridge magnet reminder for the whole family! In the afternoon they turned into mini beasts and learnt all about composting. We learnt the different types of food we can (and cannot) put into [...]

Potato Planting!

2019-03-07T16:18:41+00:00

Our Potato Planting kit arrived two weeks ago. They've been sitting on the windowsill to 'chit' to make sure they are ready to grow! We've learnt about the different parts of a potato plant and how it grows. We've also come up with our own ideas for how to use our potatoes when they arrive; 'Potato stamping!' - Bodhi 'Jacket [...]

World Book Day… WBD ’19

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

Lots of interesting characters in school today and a vast range of stories represented. Children really like the dressing up bit (well done for all the effort!) and I've had lots of children ask if I can guess who they are! I always struggle with this... apart from the Hogwart uniform or "THING 2" give-aways! Children have brought in a [...]

Reception Multi-Skills!

2019-03-06T08:14:07+00:00

Reception had a great morning out for Multi-skills at Braunton Academy. We had a very exciting bus trip down with lots of 'I've never been on a school bus before!!' We took part in lots of different activities; hula hooping, skipping, bean bag throwing, long jump and lots more. 'I liked the beanbag one!' Said Yosua 'I liked all of [...]

Pancake Races…

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

We managed to get some races in during this morning, in between the downpours! An assembly this morning talking about being a Community... a discussion about what Lent is... a good comparison about what people put on their pancakes, and disgust that I sometimes have cheese and marmite (I also have brie and caramelised onion)... and then we really were [...]

pancakes and books…

2019-03-04T12:24:42+00:00

The weather isn't great for our pancake race on Tuesday, so we're going to wind up them ready for the day itself by doing it today. You don't need to do anything to be ready - we just take Family Groups out to the playground after playtime and set them off running, and flipping. Yep, you may have heard we [...]

A new way to calculate volume 😃

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

We were finding it a bit hard to understand the 3 dimensions that are needed to work out volume so we decided to show it with children. Here is our representation of a volume of 6 children....with 3 children long, 1 child high and 2 children deep. Great fun and everyone seemed much clearer about volume.

School Council has spoken…!

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

Our School Council met this week and we spoke about Ecobricks. Gil said they were, "Ecobricks are Cool!" (big thumbs up) and they all said they wanted to make something out of them. They suggested possibly a seating area, a bench, a table and even went on to say that they could play with the coloured bottoms so that they [...]

Step aside Jack…Peter Pan is NOT finished yet…

2022-08-18T13:27:11+01:00

Hello and welcome to another Stepping Stones blog post, being sent to you all the way from Never Neverland. Since our last post the plan was to move on from the Peter Pan theme and start exploring Jack and the Beanstalk. However, it appears that Mandy, Harriet and I are far better at channeling our inner Pirates/Crocodiles than we are [...]
