The Water Cycle experiment!

2019-06-26T17:17:43+01:00

This afternoon we started learning about The Water Cycle. We read a story called 'Once Upon a Raindrop' - it explained all the different uses for water and why it is important. We then began to look at where water comes from. We learnt about how the sun heats the sea, causing evaporation. It then turns into condensation (clouds) and [...]

Old Fossils…

2019-06-21T18:49:29+01:00

We had great fun this morning, finding out about old fossils. (Respectful comments only please!) Mold fossils - where something has landed and sediment has shaped around it, like the playdough on Mr Thomas's nose (!) and the Lego brick under the plaster. Cast fossils - the infill, once the animal is gone. Trace fossils - showing where plant life [...]

Operation Overlord…

2022-08-18T13:27:08+01:00

What an amazing day. Some great and ambitious planning by Miss Summerville and Mrs Axford and we had beaches stormed and a soldier telling us how to do it! Our Company was split into 2 Platoons (it's normally 3) with one heading off to Rosemoor to experience the rain and outdoors (that sounded like one mad trip!)... and the other [...]

When the Headmaster is away…Stepping Stones come out to play…

2022-08-18T13:27:08+01:00

It's been in the diary for a while. Friday 14th June, the school will be empty! With a trip to Rosemoor planned for Class 1 & 2 and D-Day celebrations on Saunton beach for years 3 & 4. Naturally, that got us thinking. How can we make the most of such an opportunity? We started the day by explaining to [...]

Class 4 have done some work this week on their class reading book, Varjak Paw.  Varjak Paw is a Mesopotamian Blue kitten.  He lives high up in an old house on a hill.  He's never left home, but then his grandfather tells him about the Way - a secret martial art for cats.  Now Varjak must use the Way to [...]

D-Day cancellation…

2019-06-13T14:27:52+01:00

Young men and women went to war in horrible conditions and were amazingly strong heroes. However, and it was a very difficult decision, the D-Day Celebration organisers have decided that they couldn't put our young children through their own tough ordeal in the cold, wind and rain that's forecast tomorrow.     Class 3 and 4 will remain at school and [...]
