Taster morning in class 1

2021-07-14T18:35:20+01:00

We had a lovely morning with the pre-school children for their transition taster in class 1. Although they've spent lots of time in class 1 already, it was nice for them to have the room to themselves and have a good explore! We played some speaking and listening games, created our own 'all about me' poster and practiced our scissor [...]

Moving the chrysalides!

2021-06-10T11:47:34+01:00

We learnt a new word yesterday - 'chrysalides' - which means more than one chrysalis! It's a bit tricky to say...(even Miss Smale keeps getting it wrong!!) We moved the chrysalides out of the cup (which was mostly caterpillar poo by this point). It was a bit scary because they are so delicate and we had to make sure we [...]

Fun in the sun!

2021-06-08T14:07:16+01:00

It may not have been Rosemoor, but we had lots of fun at the park this morning. We were so lucky with the weather! We worked in pairs to find different minibeasts; we found black beetles, ants, woodlouse and butterflies! We talked about the different habitats that each minibeast has and where would be a good place to look for [...]

Baby Caterpillars!

2022-08-18T13:26:58+01:00

We had a very exciting delivery this morning...5 baby caterpillars! We are so excited to watch them grow over the next few weeks. We've learnt lots about the life cycle of a butterfly and almost know 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' off by heart. We're going to keep a caterpillar diary over the next few weeks to see the different changes [...]

Year 6 London: One more blog (do do do do do do!)

2022-08-18T13:26:59+01:00

We’re all back safely, exhausted but happy, with lots of special memories made before we all go off on our next adventure to “big school”. To our parents: your children have been absolutely amazing and should be really, really proud of themselves. They attempted challenging tasks with a smile and determination, even when they were a bit scared. They encouraged [...]

Real life wasp nest!

2021-05-18T14:24:04+01:00

We found a wasp nest hanging from the ceiling in the corner of our Wendy House. We carefully (checking there weren't any wasps inside) brought it inside to have a look. We couldn't believe how soft and papery it felt. We cut it in half to see the empty cells. It was perfect timing for our minibeast topic!! :-) [...]

Place value basketball!

2021-05-07T13:27:15+01:00

This week we've started learning our teen numbers. We've learnt a new number each day and played lots of different games and activities to represent the number in different ways. Today we played place value basketball, we started off with the game on topmarks (https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/place-value-basketball) where we learnt that the 1 at the start of the teen number is actually [...]

2022-08-18T13:27:00+01:00

A fantastic day was had by all! We loved sharing our favourite stories, dressing up in our amazing outfits and have had so much fun today. We have been inspired through reading new stories, listening to interviews with our favourite authors, art activities and having a go at writing in the style of different authors. Thank you so much for [...]
