2018-04-14T20:39:55+01:00

This morning was the second part of the Teachers Rock YOUTH Choir Project; the day we finally put everything together and recorded our CD. 150 children came together from many locations around the South West and sang five songs in total... Reef's Place Your Hands, Coldplay's Fix You, World in Union and a couple of Gospel numbers. Class 4's Sam, [...]

…almost-a-snow-day

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

Another surprising weekend / Sunday of fun! We cleared the playground and pathways this morning, with some initial work on Sunday afternoon (the photo above) but had to delay the start of school due to the amount of ice on the road. Communication seems to have worked well with Facebook (Twitter pushes its post to our FB Page) and Devon [...]

(embarrassing post!)

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

Did you know I was in a choir? (Miss Summerville and Miss Smale have joined too!) "Teachers Rock" started as a Devon teachers' choir and has grown over the past 5 years to include about 4 counties now. Today was our first Teachers Youth Choir rehearsal including 120 children from all over Devon... all rehearsing in preparation for cutting a [...]

Friday 2nd… closed

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

Due to overnight snow that no doubt will be frozen by the morning... ...AND no food delivery, leaving us with nothing for the children tomorrow (!) we have no alternative than to be closed tomorrow. Today was lovely. The children enjoyed a snow-dust fight with/against me on the field and they enjoyed the Hot Chocolate and cookies in the hall [...]

This Week’s Weather…

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

Take care coming to school through this week as we have cold temperatures throughout and snow forecast on Tuesday and Thursday/Friday. We have salt ready for the playground (some spare to borrow if anyone's in need) and shovels for any snow in our way (it's been done before) but we've also got Twitter, Facebook and THIS Blog to communicate any [...]

Nick Gibbs’s letter…

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

What a nice surprise we had when we opened the post yesterday... a letter from Rt Hon Nick Gibb, the Minister of State for School Standards, congratulating our school pupils and staff for our achievement in Mathematics last year. We really are quite happy indeed that, with 100% of our children reaching or exceeding the expected standard in maths at [...]

Class 3 at The Mix…

2017-06-28T20:51:35+01:00

Babcock's music service held a dedicated Northern Devon 'Mix' this year in the lovely gardens of Tapeley House. The Mix provides children with a range of performances and workshops and they come away, hopefully, inspired to try something new! Hundreds of children got together for the Big Sing - Beatles' With A Little Help - in our first workshop.  Missing [...]

Pride of School Day 2: The Sequel

2022-08-18T13:27:19+01:00

Thanks very much to the families who could make it today! We had a great day doing many jobs around the school.  Tim C-W started us off in the nature area shortly after 9am; Rachael was taking control of the herb garden with Mrs Turner; Jo painted the visitor toilet (second coat on the summer we think?); Darcy, [...]

How’s Emily’s poem?

2017-04-28T15:33:03+01:00

We are learning about... Using tone and expression whilst reading poetry and also to reflect on poems read in class with relevant comments about form, poetic devices and the effect on the reader. Emily's is lovely... but what did the rest of the class think? https://spark.adobe.com/video/oRzuysQNZzwYf
