Class 3 at The Mix…

2017-06-28T20:51:35+01:00

Babcock's music service held a dedicated Northern Devon 'Mix' this year in the lovely gardens of Tapeley House. The Mix provides children with a range of performances and workshops and they come away, hopefully, inspired to try something new! Hundreds of children got together for the Big Sing - Beatles' With A Little Help - in our first workshop.  Missing [...]

Memory Skills in Class 3

2017-06-16T12:57:00+01:00

For the first part of the morning we talked about ways that we could improve our working memories. We learned about the difference between visual and auditory memory and discovered skills that can make us remember more effectively. We played a visual memory game and followed verbal instructions that got more complicated. Everyone decided that they learned a [...]

SGH Day 2 😎

2017-05-09T20:22:53+01:00

Another glorious day! Helped themselves to breakfast cereals, toast, croissants and fruit... but also helped clean the dining room and wash up afterwards too.  Some of the boys were upset they couldn't wash up again (honest, they did say this... no, honest) but then, they did miss out on the sprayer and the dish washer TARDIS. Just after sandwiches were [...]

We are learning about... Using tone and expression whilst reading poetry and also to reflect on poems read in class with relevant comments about form, poetic devices and the effect on the reader. Class 3 science experiment…

2016-11-28T23:40:44+00:00

Please let Sam know that we finally did 'that' experiment at home today! I only had basic instructions and I had confused reasoning why it will do what it does! "A bottle of fizzy liquid placed in the freezer for about 2 hours. (We left this smaller bottle for an hour and a half.) When you open it it freezes [...]

Class 3’s Cobbaton Capers!

2016-11-03T22:34:13+00:00

We had a great day getting up close to this amazing collection of military and domestic war memorabilia and tanks. Preston and Tim are passionate about the history and stories behind all of their artefacts and were also careful about saying how awful warfare itself is. One half of the day was spent on the Homefront where we learnt about [...]

Strictly Come Spellings…

2016-10-31T14:47:34+00:00

We looked at a few multi-sensory ways to remember our spelling this week. After a great assembly on Halloween, All Saint's Day, Diwali, Bonfire Night (celebrating someone's attempt to blow up parliament?) and Daniel also mentioned Mexico's Day of The Dead (we Googled and found it was moved from early summertime to align better with other traditions!), so we thought [...]

Drama Workshop

2016-10-13T18:25:15+01:00

Class 3 have worked so hard on their plays today for our project with actors Louise and Nigel through Beaford arts. The children learnt about, scripts, props and stage management, with plenty of acting tips! The children all designed their own plays and made their own props which they then performed to the rest of the school.
