2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

This week we have been working hard on our phonics and maths. We have tried out a new game called 'Splat' which we love! We work in teams and Miss Smale reads a word from the board, the first person to splat it with the swatter wins a point for their team! This is helping us speed up our letter [...]

We have been learning about the different planets. Today, we created our favourite and watched them fizz! We used bicarbonate of soda, water, food colouring and vinegar. 'I liked the smell!' - Fin 'I liked it when it erupted!' - Minnie 'It's like a volcano!' We chose the colour red for Planet Mercury, 'because it's close to the sun', rolled [...]

We’re going on a bear hunt….for REAL!

2018-01-09T22:47:47+00:00

This week we have loved reading the story 'We're going on a bear hunt'. We now know the story *almost* off by heart! So, during our golden time this afternoon we put our wellies on and we went on a bear hunt! We went through the swishy, swashy grass...through the deep, cold river (kind of), through the oozy mud, braved [...]

Pride of School Day 3…

2022-08-18T13:27:16+01:00

It was lovely to see so many of our parents, Governors and staff come in to decorate our school this weekend. What a brilliant day! Class 3 had a repaint over the summer and it looked so good with its 2-tone grey that our Governors decided to call a 'Pride of School' Painting Party for the entrance area of school.  [...]

Today in class one we were very lucky to have Fabienne talk to us about her home country, Germany. We found Germany on the map and compared it to England, Fabienne showed us some of the German language - we counted from 1-20, the days of the week and the weather! We have had another busy week! In phonics, the reception children have started to learn digraphs. 'Two letters make one sound!' - Louis. Year 1s have been writing about The [...]

Class One are mathematicians!

2017-10-20T19:02:27+01:00

This week we have been seeing some fantastic maths from all of the children, and they have been beginning to use these skills independently in their learning. Year 1s have been practicing their number bonds to 10 and missing number problems which has been very tricky...but as you can see from the two very happy and proud faces that we [...]

Our Open Afternoon…

2022-08-18T13:27:17+01:00

It's lovely to have our parents come and have a look around the school, seeing their children active and learning and finding out how the classroom works, rather than hearing about it, or not (!), over the dinner table. Thanks for coming! ...And a perfect opportunity to spread out lost property out, and offer the use of our Sharpie Pen!

Watermouth Castle

2017-10-12T21:42:51+01:00

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at Watermouth Castle. We had a lovely time exploring the inside which had been set up as 'Victorian' rooms. We even braved the dungeons and made it out the other end! We watched the fountain light show, mined for gold, watched various fairy-tale themed puppet shows...but our favourite part of the day was [...]
