Let’s get messy!

2023-01-17T16:58:54+00:00

A morning of Forest School fun. Finding ice and watching it melt, making mud milkshakes and identifying different minibeasts. An afternoon of outdoor painting! Using rollers and sponges to make our own patterns. We discovered that our end result looked a bit like the world map. We were then trying to spot different countries, 'I think that big one is [...]

New Year Traditions

2023-01-10T16:06:48+00:00

We have been learning about traditions in different countries and how different people celebrate special times. To begin our Chinese New Year celebration, we learnt that the families will tidy their houses to clean away any bad luck. After that, they will decorate with red and gold decorations as a symbol of good luck. So, we did the same to [...]

Class 3 WW2 Workshop

2022-12-15T11:19:41+00:00

Class 3 enjoyed a great WW2 workshop to finish off our topic this term. We reviewed the main events of the war, rationing, evacuation and WW2 weapons as well as learning some games children played (because most materials were being used for the war effort so toys weren't really being produced) and handling some WW2 artefacts. We even had a [...]

We had a lovely Polar Express day today! We were all snug in our pyjamas when we were given our Polar Express tickets. We climbed aboard and soared through mountains and across the snow. We stopped for a snowball fight and even had hot chocolate as a special treat!

Fun with forces: Class 4

2022-10-10T16:33:39+01:00

We've had a lot of fun investigating different forces and simple machines in science over the last few weeks. Today, we were investigating how pulleys can, in their simplest form, change the direction of a force and, in a more complex form, give a mechanical advantage. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough of a mechanical advantage to lift the teacher (or [...]

Does a conker float or sink?

2022-10-06T12:52:42+01:00

Our word of the week is 'sinking', we've been investigating in the water tray which objects sink to the bottom. 'I wonder...does a conker sink or float?' We found that one conker sank to the bottom...and one conker floated. We discovered that a good conker would sink and a bad conker would float. We sorted them into groups - bad [...]
