In Science we have been learning about materials. We wanted to find out which materials were waterproof. We came up with an experiment to find the best material to use as an umbrella. We tested; paper, card, tissue, paper-towel, fabric and plastic.

We each made our own predictions before we started.

‘My prediction is that the cardboard is waterproof’

‘My prediction is the plastic bag will be waterproof’

We then tested our ideas!

‘My experiment showed me that cardboard is not waterproof, because the water went straight through it!’
‘I found out that the plastic was waterproof, because the water just kept bouncing off!’

We then tested out some other objects…we found out our school shoes are waterproof…and our coats…but some of our PE trainers were not waterproof!
