Class 2 investigated which materials were waterproof. We worked as a TEAM (together, everyone achieves more) to conduct a 'fair' test on tissue paper, fabric, paper and plastic to decide which material would be the best to make an umbrella.
Lots of discussion took place:
“I have noticed with the fabric that the water doesn't soak in straight away, you have to wait”.
“The tissue paper sucked up the water”.
“I thought the plastic would be waterproof and I was right”!
“The water has changed the way the materials look, the ones that aren't waterproof have gone all soggy”!
“Where the material is knitted, there are little holes which the water will go through”.
We ended up with a few 'water features' on the tables, but we came to lots of conclusions and independently recorded our results and observations.
