Are You Able to Volunteer at the School?
We are grateful for the work of a range of volunteers who help at the school in a variety of different ways including:
- Reading with children – listening to children read is a hugely important part of our literacy programme and we welcome volunteers who have the time to come in and hear children reading. We will not ask you to listen to children in your child’s class(es) but rather assign you to a different year group.
- Running school clubs – if you have a particular skill that could be utilised to run after school clubs please let us know. Currently parent volunteers are helping run football clubs and they have contributed to netball and art clubs in the past
- Helping with sessions that contribute to specific aspects of the curriculum. One of our parents who is a chef came in to talk to Key Stage 1 about local produce and food, another helped with cookery sessions and we’ve welcomed visits from parents with experiences living in different countries.
- Becoming a school governor. We are required to have 4 parent governors on our governing body and welcome interest from parents with a wide range of skill sets.
- Joining our Parents, Teachers and Friends Association – commonly called FROGS ‘Friends of Georgeham School’ – and helping with fund raising and school events throughout the year. Please see our FROGS page on the website for more information.
- Helping with school trips – we often need parents to help with school trips.
Volunteers at the school are asked to read our Volunteering at School Booklet and some roles may require a DBS Check. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity please contact the School Office.
