Attendance so far…
Yr6: 95.8% … Yr5: 96.6% … Yr4: 94.4% … Yr3: 97.2%
Yr2: 96.4% … Yr1: 93.9.7% … Rec: 92.5%
School average 95.25%
Well done to Year 4 who have increased their average attendance this week! We’re still slightly below our target of 96.5%.
We’ve had a few more cases of Covid-19 (we’ve emailed the latest ‘Warn and Inform’ letter out) but holidays and long weekend also reduce attendance, which makes things difficult and interrupts your child’s, and the class’, learning.
We’re hoping that we can maintain and even increase the school’s average attendance and we hope you can help with this.
Comic Relief – Friday 18th – always a non-uniform day where we raise funds for charity.
Funds go to charities that help families in poverty and, this year, funds will also be for supporting families fleeing wars.
For this reason… let’s do non-uniform in blues or yellows, both if you can, yellow bottoms and blue tops, or wear jeans and walk on your hands?!
…click here to find out about what Comic Relief do with the money.
See below (toward the bottom) for our comments about supporting children understand the conflict that’s happening right now.
Croyde Deckchair Cinema has organised a Silent Disco on Friday 18th at Croyde Village Hall too,
With proceeds going to the DEC Ukraine appeal.

Back by popular demand – FROGS BINGO Night
Friday 1st April… Georgeham Village Hall…. Doors open at 7pm, eyes down for 7.30pm.
Tickets in advance from Leisha Thomas & Caroline Hooper or Jo in the office.
Year 6 parents – hopefully you’ve heard about the SATs meeting we’re holding in the school hall on Wednesday at 2.30pm?
Please do come along and we’ll talk to you about what to expect, how the week is organised, what you could do to help and, yes, we’ll show you a few of the questions your child will be asked.
Feedback previously is that this has been really beneficial.
A date for your diary…
A Mothers’ Day Lunch at school (two of them actually!)
Class 3 and Class 4 on Tuesday 29th March.
Class 2, Class 1 and Preschool on Thursday the 31st March.
We plan to have siblings sitting together, so for those who may have children on both days you could choose a date, or come to both and choose a different meal!
We cook to order at school so it really is vital that you complete the forms by the given date, when they get emailed to you.
£4.00 for adults, £2.20, as usual, for children.
Year 5 Bikeability… this is taking place at the start of April. Just enough time to make sure helmets still fit and the chains are oiled.
Year 6 Bikeability… we’ve got this arranged for the end of June so that we can maximise your time in class beforehand. Plenty of time to get some practice in beforehand too!
Advanced notice – We’re planning on an Easter assembly at St.George’s Church on the Friday we break up for Easter – 8th April.
FROGS have planned a Cake Sale for that day too, so no doubt you’ll be able to come listen to a few Easter songs (any favourites?), hear the Easter story, and eat some cake afterwards!
“We Are Community” after all.
Some children have asked us to help them understand what’s happening with the war in Ukraine. Class 4, were shown the CBBC Newsround webpage that describes what’s going on, and we also showed maps to understand where this is all taking place.
link – Newsround: Why has Russia invaded?
link – Place to be: How to talk to children about this?

Our main focus is of supporting the children, and reacting and helping them understand it if it comes up in conversation.
Please do ask me for a meeting if you’d like to discuss any of this further. Mr Thomas
We recently blogged some information from the DfE about the vaccination programme for 5 to 17 year olds. Please click here to read more.
Our front doors are open between 8.45 and 8.55 with children doing learning activities as soon as they arrive. Sadly, the ones who arrive late at 9.00 am would have missed this, and the ones who are later can even miss the introduction to the next learning task.
Please aim to arrive at 8.45am
Please do look at the school menu before you leave home in the morning. Keri is unable to adjust the menu each day and it’s important that the children know what’s on offer and are happy to make choices in the morning.
