Today we have been using cuisenaire rods to begin to understand algebra. We did amazingly well!

One of our ‘wow moments’ was when we realised we could use subtraction as well as multiplication and addition in our sentences:

O = 3P + W – LG

(This means that an orange rod is the same as 3 purple rods added to 1 white rod, minus 1 light green rod).
