Mental Health Week…

2019-05-10T18:04:18+01:00

Mental Health Week starts next week. Even though there's an irony that it's also SATs week next week, we're going to be talking with the children about their mental health and introducing 5 things they can do to help themselves feel good. It also starts with YOU - the parent. I subscribe to Dr. Pooky's You Tube channel and she [...]

Class 3 ROCKS!

2019-05-10T16:39:46+01:00

We didn't make Igneous rocks, or metamorphic either (few technical difficulties in doing them) but we did make sedimentary rocks. We layered sand and soil and squashed them very tightly. Peeling the pot and paper towel away, most of us were left with a crumbling mess... but we did have a few compacted sedimentary 'rocks!'

Spotlight on Frida, the Forda Fox….

2022-08-18T13:27:08+01:00

We all do Spotlights of some kind in our classes, from Class 1 doing a 'Show and Tell' to Year 6 running the whole assembly. Today we had a really interesting Spotlight from one of our year 5 girls, about a fox who visits the area. I knew about this already as some of our community were worried; she hasn't [...]

This week, the year 1's  have started looking at multiplication. We started looking at repeated addition and counting in groups of 2s, 5s and 10s. Today, we started building arrays to help us multiply! We took cones and some chalk outside, and began solving multiplication sentences. It was tricky at first, but by the end we all had 'double thumbs [...]

2019-04-29T13:43:11+01:00

Our school is part of a growing number of schools within the Teaching School Alliance that is leading the way for more school-led teacher training.  This is really important to us because it means we can choose the very best talent and develop them into teachers.  Being able to choose who we train as teachers helps us in delivering the [...]

Year 5’s boosting…

2022-08-18T13:27:08+01:00

Another booster session with year 5s this morning where we recapped how to do division by chunking it away. We started with 452 cubes and they were very quickly bored of repeatedly taking away 3... How about taking away 30, or 60 someone asked! 😁 Brilliant... how about a whole 300?! We also reviewed some of our writing and worked [...]
