A busy week!

2022-08-18T13:27:17+01:00

In literacy this week, the reception children have been learning their initial sounds and are now starting to blend and segment them into words! Today, we practiced writing short words using our new sounds. Year 1s have been working super hard on their Jack and the Beanstalk story, we have now filled up the learning wall with their wonderful story [...]

Dunster Castle

2017-10-04T22:01:43+01:00

Class 2 had a fantastic day out at Dunster Castle. They tried out jousting and sword fighting and everyone passed, so we now have a class full of qualified Knights! We found out about life in a castle and learnt that they only used a spoon and knife, with a piece of stale bread for a plate. We then had [...]

Class 1 parents afternoon…

2022-08-18T13:27:17+01:00

Class 1 parents had a lovely afternoon... From trying various menu options for school lunch (Keri's issuing her curry recipe if you're interested!), playing outside on the field and then Miss Smale held an informal phonics presentation too. Hope no one fell asleep after lunch - that pudding was amazing too!

Today in Class One

2022-08-18T13:27:17+01:00

We have had a busy day today. This morning, we finished learning the actions for our Jack and the Beanstalk story. We are getting much better at telling the story and we can almost talk it through without any help! Year ones then began to create their story maps and wrote short parts of the story, whilst the reception children [...]

Harvest Sunday, at School…

2022-08-18T13:27:17+01:00

Just like Education Sunday last year, we had St George's Church's Harvest Service at school today.  Worrying slightly that the rain would put people off (or their recollections of small chairs) we were full to the brim!  Many apples were used, many boxes were wrapped for sharing, many paper carrots had prayers written on and, for once, the school's songs [...]

Chloé’s Run for Syria…

2022-08-18T13:27:19+01:00

Chloé heard about the Syrian family coming to our school and wondered about doing something to help the family out. She heard they travel 3200 miles to get here, so she thought about running or cycling 32 miles - quite an achievement!  So... adding to the 24 miles she cycled on the School's bike ride day, Chloé also went out [...]

Handwriting…

2022-08-18T13:27:19+01:00

Class 3 had their first proper handwriting session today. Properly, fully cursive with lead-ins and joins too.  The class liked it so much they asked for sheets to take home!  I just love it when children ask for homework! There's a big variation of pencil grip in our school, and this is something that we'll need to focus in on.  [...]

Class 1 learn all about staying safe on the computer with Super Protector, Sid!

2022-08-18T13:27:19+01:00

We had such fun yesterday afternoon learning all about staying safe on the Internet and 'stranger danger'. With a bit of help from Sid, Lee and Kim we all became 'Super Protectors' and made our own badges. We also danced along to SID's song!

Transition Choir…

2022-08-18T13:27:19+01:00

I'm looking forward to the final concert that our local community of schools' is putting on in December.  Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' sounded lovely and we only practiced it over 25 minutes! All the Braunton schools are collaborating in this Transition Choir, made up of years 5, 6, 7 and 8 children. With only another four practice sessions, with the amazing [...]
