In class 4 we have been choosing words for effect in our poetry. The children were given the challenge of changing the names of paint from appealing and tasteful names such as; Blue Saturn, Oyster Pearl and Lilac Grey to some much more disgusting (and funny) names. Some of our favourites were; Stinky Elephant Breath Grey, Sweaty Socks Grey, Fungus [...]
We had an excellent time at St. George's House this week! We had some unexpected great weather for both days. The children spent the first day on Putsborough Beach using rafts, boards and their Ringo inflatable with some great games, including a brilliant 'Battle of the Tide' with two groups making very different fortifications against the incoming tide that both [...]
In class 4, we have been finding out about the characteristics a creature needs to survive in their habitat. We found out that koalas have developed a fantastic sense of smell as they only eat two of the 600 different types of eucalyptus leaves and that giraffes have adapted to have an extra-large heart so that it can pump blood [...]
Class 1 had a wonderful day in Ilfracombe on Wednesday 27th April, 2016. We were so lucky with the weather, as even though it was a bit chilly, the sun shone for us. Everyone loved the Aquarium, especially Sunny and Jack who insisted they came back with their parents. We were even lucky enough to touch two different types of [...]
Hope you enjoy seeing what we got up to this morning! Thanks very much to Mrs Poynter and the pupils of West Down Primary who showed us their lively morning routine! So... a couple of times a week then?! ...even better when the sun's out!
Our School Council have completed their first trial-run of their planned Values Videos! This is a trial-run making sure we knew what we were doing, planning the story-board, working out exactly where and when we see and experience our values being played out in our school and then stitching our work all together with photos and our ad-libbed narration! Quite [...]
Class 4 had an excellent afternoon today, looking at Braunton Burrows in great detail! You normally talk about the burrows from the sea back towards the land but we approached from the car park, so we ended up doing the whole thing backwards... never mind, it all still made sense as we walked through. Wonder if you can work out [...]
Ella, Isobel and Liza have been thoughtful and set up a lunchtime volleyball club for classes 2 & 3... all spurned on possibly because Gracie's mum, Emma, has volunteered time on Mondays to run the after school netball club. Well, thanks girls... and thanks Emma! Well all be more sporty and fit as a result! :-)
