Solar Eclipse

2015-03-20T10:14:05+00:00

We weren't in the Faroe Isles where it was a total eclipse but at least we had good weather and were able to see the partial eclipse - it was cloudy in London and they couldn't. Some great learning has taken place this morning.  Children loved it!

BLC’s Music Festival!

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

Thanks again to Mrs Patterson who helped the class to learn three difficult pieces of music but also to play Boomwhackers and recorders (first time picking a recorder up for them!) and playing 'In The Jungle'(cue the 'weeooooooo' sound; you'll know what I mean when you play it) and also the difficult March of The Lions, to very good effect [...]

Class 4 STOMP…

2015-03-19T19:59:49+00:00

Miss Patterson worked with class 4 in their topic of recycling with a STOMP style of music. Children brought in their musical instruments (we cleaned out the milk bottles) and then we banged them a lot. I should know; my office is right next door! However after a few weeks of experimenting and seeing what they could do with the [...]

Solar School competition plea

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

Georgeham Primary School is one of twenty two ‘Solar Schools’ in the UK. This is the name given to us by the organisations supporting our crowdfunding fundraising for the solar panels we’re hoping to install by summer. We’ve done well in our fundraising so far, but don’t worry, this isn’t a request for your money. We’ve entered a photo competition [...]

Metaphor Poem (about a giraffe)

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

A giraffe is a maze with patterns on his body so everyone gets confused. A giraffe is a ginger pony galloping across the fields. A giraffe is a spotty jumper wrapped around me keeping me snug. A giraffe is a spotty pillow waiting to be sat on. A giraffe is a onesie lying on your bed waiting for you to [...]

Funny for Money in Class 4

2015-03-13T21:37:58+00:00

In class 4 we decided to have a Red Nose Day theme to our learning today as our farm visit was rained off. We started off the day by thinking about what Comic Relief is all about and made our faces 'funny for money'....the theme of the event this year. Some of the faces were quite funny without masks [...]

Red Nose/Comic Relief Day Fun in Class 1

2015-03-13T12:21:24+00:00

Even though we were slightly disappointed that rain stopped us going to the farm today, Class 1 soon got over it with all the excitement of taking part in some Red Nose activities. We all dressed up as farmers and some as a farmer's wife, designed our own Red Noses and coloured in some special dinosaur red noses. We then [...]

Reception have great fun at Braunton Academy!

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

Yesterday, all the Reception children boarded a mini-bus for a morning of Multi-Skills at Braunton Academy. We had a fantastic time trying out all the different skills at each Station including, skipping, hurdles, hula-hooping, throwing, catching and slalom. We had to concentrate very hard on listening to the instructions and making sure we tried to do our very best. As [...]

Class 4 visit the Eden Project!

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

It was a very early start (well done to everyone for getting there well before time!) but the children all seemed suitably impressed when the Biomes of The Eden Project came into view. After dropping our things in The Core we went to see the WEEE Man (a giant sculpture made out of electrical waste) and then onto [...]

What can we see?

2022-08-18T13:27:24+01:00

Class 4 have been finding out how we see things and today we our own made periscopes. A periscope allows us to see over walls or round corners :-) Beau B did a fantastic job in assembly by explaining that periscopes work by light hitting the mirror of the periscope being reflected twice at a 45 degrees angle. "I can't believe it [...]
